Sisterhood and Friendship

My mother's relationship with my aunt taught me a great deal about the meaning of friendship. I am the only girl in a family of brothers and remember always yearning for a little sister.  However, as I got older in life experiences I began to realize that sisterhood has little to do with biology and is based on connections of the heart.

A good recipe for maintaining genuine long-lasting friendships is one that allows each to expose their vulnerability without judgement. I've learned that friendships honor and empower each other.  A true friendship is based on unconditional love. But let's keep it real and understand that unconditional love does not compromise loyalty for common sense. A true friend will support you in your moments of challenge but should not take responsibility for lessons you need to learn.

I am so grateful to know that there are  'sistahs' out there I can truly call my friend.

I want to extend a special shout out to my Grandmother who turned 95 years old today! Happy Birthday G-Mom! I love you!

Also this is a special shout-out to all those friendships based on love, compassion, empathy and support.
